CSA: Your Gifts at Work

Your Gifts at Work

(click here to pledge to this years CSA drive)

Your gift to the Catholic Services Appeal makes a difference in countless lives throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit and beyond. The numerous ministries, programs, and services funded by the CSA provide the energy for our Lord’s grace and blessings on our parishes, institutions, parishioners, and others every day. The ministries, programs, and services funded by CSA include Catholic Schools, Clergy and Consecrated Life, Communications and Marketing, Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship, Mission Advancement and Stewardship, Parish Care and Services, Priestly Vocations, Technology, Sacred Major Seminary and Cathedral Support, National Collections and Metropolitan Tribunal.

The Catholic Services Appeal is an annual campaign of the Archdiocese of Detroit promoted through our parishes’ efforts. Each parish is provided with an individual goal to assist the Archdiocese in this fundraising effort. Any funds collected over these parish goals are returned to the parishes for their own needs.

Be assured that no CSA dollars will be used to settle claims against the Archdiocese or to support projects outside of the Archdiocese other than six specific national collections of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. The archdiocesan lay Finance Council oversees the distribution of CSA funds to ensure all reach the ministries, programs, and services for which they are intended.

Use of Funds: Grants and Allocations

CSA funds are restricted for the publicized purposes/ministries of the campaign. The total amount to be reflected as donor restricted revenue is calculated by recording total pledges receivable for the current campaign, less an allowance for pledges that will not be collected. The total amount available for allocation each year (July 1 – June 30) is calculated based on cash collected for the current campaign, plus unallocated funds remaining from prior year campaigns, if any.

Parish Capital Campaigns

Capital Campaign fundraising at the parish level is processed through CSA to facilitate the tracking of donor giving for purposes publicized and are not assessed by the Archdiocese. All Capital Campaign giving collected is distributed to parishes once parish CSA parish goals are achieved.
